Except it stacks with Bracers of Archery(they're a competence bonus). I mean it is Greater Bracers of Archery (which cost 25,000) for the entire group (minus the tiny other bonuses no one uses the things for). What should the new item's caster level be? It's not necessarily "the minimum required to cast the prerequisite spell", since the noble pennon (caster level 7th) has a 3rd-level spell as its prerequisite, and the standard of valor (caster level 10th) has a 1st-level spell for its prerequisite.įinally, any suggestions on cool names for the thing? Banner of accuracy is a bit lame, really.Īlternately, you could cost it off of the fact it gives a +2 morale bonus to attack, that should give it a base cost of 8,000 to 12,000 (enhancement is 8,000, so non-standard should be higher, but it's not giving a bonus to damage, so it's a good minimum starting place), lowered for ranged only, raised for effecting a group, raised for spotless, which would give you at the very, very least 16,000 total. Is 15,000 gp too much or too little for an item that grants +2 morale to ranged attacks? (By comparison, the banner of the storm's eye supresses fear effects and prevents stunning and confusion.) Of the three, the proposed magic item sounds most like the banner of the storm's eye. (Knights and marshals can use it more than once per day.) The standard of valor normally uses the shoulder body slot (though it can be attached to a pole, spear, or polearm wielded by the owner and still function). Once a day, the owner can grant a benefit to one ally within 60 ft. (But as a piece of a magic item set it's not readily available and can't be manufactured unless you already have another piece from the set.) Its caster level is 10th. It also has 3 charges which can be used to bolster the saving throw of an ally using charges requires an immediate action. It grants a knight or paladin an "always on" benefit. It would seem only usable by knights and paladins. It grants a benefit to everyone within 20 feet, is always "on", and uses no body slot. The banner of the storm's eye costs 15,000 gp.Specifically, there are three banner items. But there are banner items in the Magic Item Compendium which do this sort of thing. Having an amulet, say, that grants a bonus to everyone seems a bit strange. After a bit of discussion, we settled on the item being a banner of some kind. The archer in the party would like a magic item that continually confers the benefit of blessed aim (from the Spell Compendium): +2 morale bonus (work that stacking!) on ranged attack rolls for allies within 50 feet.
